The Joys of Gridlock
This is based on a true story, although some of what I may have imagined
at the time never happened anywhere except in my head. What did or didn't
happen will...in yours.
The Line Between Herd and Flock
Who would ever expect a Southern Baptist preacher to fall victim to
temptation in the middle of a baptism? Here's an irreverent glimpse into a
day in the life of Pastor Herschel P. Whitaker as he blurs the line himself
with Ms. Hattie Jean Buckhead.

Tanka From Tanka's long history - over 1300 years recorded in Japan - the most famous use of the poetry form of Tanka was as discrete messages between lovers; hence no title or signature. Arriving home in the morning, after having dallied with a lover all night, it became the custom of well-mannered persons to write an immediate thank-you note for the pleasures of the hospitality. Stylized into a five lines of 5-7-5-7-7 Onji (or syllables in the English version), the little poem expressing one's feelings were sent in special paper containers, written on a fan, or knotted on a branch or stem of a single blossom. Tanka typically are not titled; however, where G. Gregory has combined several there is a theme captured as a subtitle. |

Haiku Haiku is a style of lyric poetry borrowed from the Japanese that typically presents an intense emotion or vivid image of nature, which, traditionally, is designed to lead to spiritual insight. G. Gregory feels sexual emotion is a worthy element of nature that fits well into this form of poetry. Matsuo Basho established the haiku as a great literary form by expressing profound truths in the simplest of natural images. Haiku is a fixed poetic form, consisting of 17
syllables in three unrhymed lines of 5 - 7 -
5. Today, however, many poets vary the syllabic count in their
haiku. Haiku also are typically untitled; however
themes are captured as sub-titles. |

Cinquain Cinquain, despite its French name, is an American poetry form that can be traced back to Adelaide Crapsey. Crapsey, influenced by Japanese Haiku, developed this poetic system and used it to express brief thoughts and statements.
Most Cinquain poems consist of a single, 22 syllable stanza, but they can be
combined into longer works. A Cinquain
stanza consists of five lines. The syllable
count is
spread over five lines per stanza (2 - 4 - 6 - 8 - 2). |
